About
About Ember & Amp
Ember & Amp publishes buying guides for outdoor tech. The site is faceless on purpose. The work is the writing, not a personality.
What we cover
- Portable power
- Solar
- Lights
- Helmet comms
- GPS & satellite messengers
- Thermal optics
How the writing works
A guide starts with the job: keep a fridge running, charge a phone away from an outlet, see a trail, or reach someone when there is no cell service. The recommendation follows from that job. If the cheaper option is good enough, the guide says so. A higher price is not a verdict.
We do not invent specifications, prices, or time spent with a product. If we have not used something, we will not write as if we have. If a number is not sourced, it does not get published.
How the site makes money
Guides may include affiliate links. A commission does not raise the price you pay, and it does not decide the verdict. The short version appears at the top of every guide. The long version is on the affiliate disclosure.
What is published right now
The published guide is Best Portable Power Stations for Camping (Black Friday 2026). It compares manufacturer-published specs and cited independent reviews. Ember & Amp has not tested those units.
